Los Angeles Facial Wasting

Facial wasting is just one symptom of a syndrome known as "lipoatrophy", which describes the loss of the soft layer of fat that sits just beneath the skin. At his West Hollywood private practice, Mossi Salibian M.D. offers Sculptra, which is an injectable FDA approved to be used for safely treating facial wasting.

Even thought there are no proven treatments for this condition or strategies that consistently lead to restoration of fat, there are a growing number of facial fillers and implants that can improve a person's appearance and quality of life.

Most scientists believe that facial wasting can occur primarily because the fuel source in fat cells becomes damaged and stop reproducing. There are three factors that are currently associated with lipoatrophy:

Being over 40 years old
Having elevated triglycerides
